Top Venue Choices

I think we're going to make a choice very soon. Here are the top contenders:

Top contender. Sundays are reasonable, room for 16-20 to stay overnight. Very natural and homey and beautiful. Kitchen and tables/chairs included. Just west of Austin past 360 on 2244.

The most reasonable and a very laid back owner. Very private, on a river, in Liberty Hill. Room for up to 24 to stay. Plus camping. But we can't see it until late Feb.and probably can't do a Ocotber wedding because the owner also runs a costume shop. By the time we see it, lots of things (including vendors/caterers/back-up locations) may be booked.

Gorgeous! Peacocks! But nothing is provided and it's on a 6-month-out lotto system, so it's risky for the cool part of 2010.

Just found out about this one. Need to look into it. Reasonable and pretty and good wedding karma, but nothing is included.

This had been my long time favorite, it is beautiful, historic, and three blocks from our house. But it is pricey, not so flexible, and the people that work there haven't been too helpful or warm...  and it books up like crazy. Nothing is included here either.

Mayfield Park

We got to go here a couple of weeks ago, and it's totally where I want to get married... probably next fall. It is completely magical. That's a big "if"--if we can get lucky with the city parks' lotto system (fingers crossed!!). We looked at Fiesta Gardens, too, but couldn't see anything through the fence... I think there may be a holiday event there soon, so we can check it out.
